About this shelf
Our Wenge floating shelves are solid hardwood boards, not veneered boxes, milled to the inch in Farmingdale, New York. Wenge reads chocolate-black with fine, straight striping — the honest route to a near-black surface, no stain involved, and one of the hardest boards we mill at 1,930 lbf Janka.
A Wenge shelf against a pale wall is about the strongest line you can draw in a room with one piece of wood. Dark, dense and stiff, so it can be run thin without looking flimsy — the usual specification is a shallower, thinner shelf than you would order in oak, precisely because it does not need the bulk.
Hidden bracket routing is an option in the Builder, and every shelf is finished on all faces in zero-VOC hardwax oil before it is crated. Free lift-gate freight, continental US.

Where can I use custom hardwood shelves?
Our hardwood shelves are designed for kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, home offices, retail displays, and commercial environments. Each shelf is custom-sized and crafted from premium hardwood, making it strong enough for décor, dishware, books, and everyday storage while maintaining a clean, modern look.
How do I clean and maintain the finish?
All shelves are finished with a premium, 100% VOC-free hardwax oil for exceptional protection and a natural matte appearance. The finish is commercial-grade and resistant to moisture, fingerprints, and everyday cleaning products. For cleaning, simply wipe with mild soap and water or a gentle all-purpose cleaner. How long does a made-to-order piece take?
Each piece is built to order in our New York shop. Current lead time is 10–12 weeks, and the Builder shows your ship window before you add to project. Need it sooner? Ready-to-Ship pieces leave in 1–2 business days.
How is it shipped and delivered?
We ship floating shelves nationwide. Smaller shelves typically ship parcel, while longer or thicker shelves may ship freight. Every shelf is securely packaged to prevent damage during transit, and tracking information is provided once shipped.
How do the floating shelf brackets work?
Our shelves can be paired with optional hidden floating brackets for a clean, modern look. When brackets are selected, we pre-bore and align the backside of each shelf for a perfect fit. Installation is as simple as mounting the bracket to the wall and sliding the shelf on. Learn more on our Floating Bracket System page.
What’s included with my shelf order?
Each order includes your custom hardwood shelf, finished and ready for installation. If you select the floating bracket upgrade, the shelf arrives pre-bored to match your bracket system. Installation instructions are included, and additional support is available through our Contact Page.
