Wood Kitchen Island Tops

The island is where the kitchen actually happens — homework, wine, rolling dough, everyone leaning. It’s also where wood belongs: warm where stone is cold, quiet where stone rings, and repairable where everything else is replaceable.

The most popular kitchen we build for pairs a quartz or stone perimeter with a solid walnut or white oak island — the practical material where the splashing happens, the beautiful one where the people are. Milled to your exact cabinet run, priced instantly in the Builder.

Island Specifics

Seating overhangs

Island seating wants a 10–12″ overhang. Hidden steel C-channel routed into the underside carries it flat for life without visible corbels — add it in the Builder, priced by the foot of width.

Sinks and cooktops

Prep-sink and cooktop openings are CNC-cut to your template before finishing, with every inside edge sealed against moisture. Undermount, drop-in, and workstation styles all supported — add the cutout in the Builder and send the spec after ordering.

The waterfall question

Waterfall ends in solid wood are a custom order — mitered grain that turns the corner and runs to the floor. Request a quote with your dimensions and we’ll price it by hand.

Questions

Island Top FAQ

What buyers ask before putting wood on the island.

Is a wood island top practical next to a stone perimeter?
It’s the designer standard for a reason: stone takes the sink-and-dishwasher splash zone, wood takes the gathering surface. The zero-VOC hardwax oil finish beads spills, wipes clean, and repairs in place — no maintenance calendar.
What size can an island top be?
Any size — that’s the point of custom. Spans over 4 feet wide or 8 feet long carry a small tiered premium for premium-width lumber; the Builder shows it live, and a seamed two-piece build avoids it.
Walnut or white oak for an island?
Walnut for warmth and drama, white oak for hardness and lighter rooms. Both are kitchen-proven; order samples and judge under your own lighting.
Can you cut for my prep sink and faucet?
Yes — CNC-cut to the manufacturer’s template with faucet holes exactly where you spec them, sealed before finishing. Add the cutout option in the Builder.
Do you take on custom or one-off projects?
Yes. Beyond the online builder, we take on custom sizes, oversized pieces, matched commercial runs, and bespoke solid-hardwood millwork. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll quote it by hand, usually within one business day. Start a custom project ›
