Tesseract Dining Table

The Tesseract takes its name from the drawing of a cube inside a cube. Under a two-plank top with a shadow line down its length sits a low open cage of flat stock: a full-height frame across each end, and along each side a shorter frame that hangs a little below the top and floats a little above the floor. Two solid slab posts stand inside the cage at the quarter points and carry the top, which runs well past the cage at both ends so a chair slides under at the head of the table. From the end it reads as a frame around a post; from the side, as frames within frames; and it changes as you walk around it.

Shown in black oak, where the geometry reads as line and shadow before it reads as wood. Built to order in any of the sixteen woods we stock, the frames, posts and top cut from the same boards, finished in zero-VOC hardwax oil and shipped crated with lift-gate delivery. Three lengths; the 114″ seats ten.
