About this tabletop

This Wenge tabletop is solid hardwood through its whole thickness, cut to your length, width and thickness in our shop in Farmingdale, New York. Wenge reads chocolate-black with fine, straight striping — the honest route to a near-black surface, no stain involved, and one of the hardest boards we mill at 1,930 lbf Janka.

Wenge makes a dining table that looks like furniture rather than joinery. The fine straight striping keeps a large dark surface from reading as a slab of nothing, and the hardness handles a table that gets used properly. Worth knowing that crumbs and dust are visible on it in a way they are not on oak — most owners consider that a feature and wipe it more often.

Finished by hand in food-safe, zero-VOC hardwax oil, repairable in place rather than needing a refinisher, and delivered crated with free lift-gate freight. Bases are optional; most tops ship on their own.

One of our hardwood table tops, built in Wenge — the same build is available in every hardwood we mill.

Details, Care & Shipping

What can I use a custom hardwood tabletop for?

Our hardwood tabletops are built for a wide range of residential and commercial applications, including dining tables, office desks, conference tables, kitchen islands, and retail or hospitality spaces. For restaurant and café installations, visit our Restaurant Tabletops page to learn more about commercial-grade builds and bulk ordering.

How do I clean and maintain the finish?

Our tabletops are sealed with a premium, 100% VOC-free hardwax oil engineered for commercial-grade durability. The finish is highly resistant to spills, stains, moisture, and everyday chemicals, making it ideal for restaurants, cafés, offices, and busy homes. It provides a natural matte sheen that enhances the wood grain while protecting it for long-term use. Cleaning is simple: wipe with a mild soap-and-water solution or a gentle all-purpose cleaner. While the finish can handle regular commercial cleaning products, we recommend avoiding extremely harsh or abrasive chemicals to preserve the natural look of the wood. If you prefer a wood-safe solution, we offer an approved cleaner here: Hardwood Surface Cleaner. View available finish options on our Color Swatches page.

How long does a made-to-order piece take?

Each piece is built to order in our New York shop. Current lead time is 10–12 weeks, and the Builder shows your ship window before you add to project. Need it sooner? Ready-to-Ship pieces leave in 1–2 business days.

How is it shipped and delivered?

We ship tabletops nationwide. Smaller pieces ship parcel, while larger dining or conference tops ship via freight. Every tabletop is professionally packaged and secured for safe transport. You’ll receive tracking details once your order has shipped.

What is C-channel reinforcement and do I need it?

For wider or longer tabletops, optional steel C-channel reinforcement can be added to the underside for increased stability and long-term flatness. This upgrade is recommended for commercial installations or extra-large builds. Learn more about how C-channels work on our C-Channel Reinforcement page.
