Height is floor to the top surface; inside is floor to its underside, which is the leg. The legs are the top continued: 17.8 bf of Walnut in the two legs, each dropping 28.5″. Drawings are on the tearsheet.
Materials & construction

One panel of solid walnut folded to the floor at both ends. Top and legs are milled from the same glue-up so the grain turns each corner; the 45° miters are splined the full width, glued and braced from the inside, with adjustable glides in the feet.

Face grain or live edge, eased or chamfered edge, finished in zero-VOC hardwax oil. Cutouts, grommets and C-channel can be added in the Builder from the link above.

Care
Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap; no polishes or silicone sprays. Re-oil high-wear areas with the same hardwax oil as needed — it repairs locally. Solid wood moves with the seasons; the top and legs move together across their width, which is why we fold the ends and never the sides.
Delivery
Finished and crated assembled, so the corners arrive as they left the bench. Freight with lift-gate delivery, free in the continental US. Current lead time 10–12 weeks from order.

About this tabletop

A desk with nothing under the top but air. The solid hardwood surface folds down at a 45° miter at each end and runs to the floor, the grain continuing over both corners, so the desk is one panel of wood standing on its own two ends at 30 inches — knee room the full width, no frame to bump.

Made to order in the species you choose, face grain or live edge. Cable grommets and a rear-edge detail for monitor arms are added by quote; the miters are splined, glued and braced from the inside, and the desk ships assembled in a crate.

One of our hardwood table tops the same build is available in every hardwood we mill.

Details, Care & Shipping

What can I use a custom hardwood tabletop for?

Our hardwood tabletops are built for a wide range of residential and commercial applications, including dining tables, office desks, conference tables, kitchen islands, and retail or hospitality spaces. For restaurant and café installations, visit our Restaurant Tabletops page to learn more about commercial-grade builds and bulk ordering.

How do I clean and maintain the finish?

Our tabletops are sealed with a premium, 100% VOC-free hardwax oil engineered for commercial-grade durability. The finish is highly resistant to spills, stains, moisture, and everyday chemicals, making it ideal for restaurants, cafés, offices, and busy homes. It provides a natural matte sheen that enhances the wood grain while protecting it for long-term use. Cleaning is simple: wipe with a mild soap-and-water solution or a gentle all-purpose cleaner. While the finish can handle regular commercial cleaning products, we recommend avoiding extremely harsh or abrasive chemicals to preserve the natural look of the wood. If you prefer a wood-safe solution, we offer an approved cleaner here: Hardwood Surface Cleaner. View available finish options on our Color Swatches page.

How long does a made-to-order piece take?

Each piece is built to order in our New York shop. Current lead time is 10–12 weeks, and the Builder shows your ship window before you add to project. Need it sooner? Ready-to-Ship pieces leave in 1–2 business days.

How is it shipped and delivered?

We ship tabletops nationwide. Smaller pieces ship parcel, while larger dining or conference tops ship via freight. Every tabletop is professionally packaged and secured for safe transport. You’ll receive tracking details once your order has shipped.

What is C-channel reinforcement and do I need it?

For wider or longer tabletops, optional steel C-channel reinforcement can be added to the underside for increased stability and long-term flatness. This upgrade is recommended for commercial installations or extra-large builds. Learn more about how C-channels work on our C-Channel Reinforcement page.
