Knotty Alder Live Edge Tabletops

Our Knotty Alder live edge tabletops offer a relaxed, rustic aesthetic defined by warm golden-brown tones, natural knots, and the organic movement of a hand-shaped live edge. Knotty Alder is known for its approachable, inviting character and soft grain structure, making it an excellent hardwood choice for casual yet beautifully crafted tabletops.

Each tabletop is made to order in our New York workshop and built to your exact size and shape. The surface showcases Alder’s gentle grain flow and knot variations, while the live edge preserves the tree’s natural contours for a one-of-a-kind profile. This combination creates a tabletop full of authentic charm and handcrafted personality, ideal for farmhouse, cottage, coastal, industrial, or eclectic interiors.

Warm, natural, and visually expressive, a Knotty Alder live edge tabletop brings organic texture and genuine hardwood appeal to dining spaces, restaurants, collaborative work areas, or boutique commercial environments seeking a welcoming, rustic hardwood centerpiece.

Details, Care & Shipping

What can I use a custom hardwood tabletop for?

Our hardwood tabletops are built for a wide range of residential and commercial applications, including dining tables, office desks, conference tables, kitchen islands, and retail or hospitality spaces. For restaurant and café installations, visit our Restaurant Tabletops page to learn more about commercial-grade builds and bulk ordering.

How do I clean and maintain the finish?

Our tabletops are sealed with a premium, 100% VOC-free hardwax oil engineered for commercial-grade durability. The finish is highly resistant to spills, stains, moisture, and everyday chemicals, making it ideal for restaurants, cafés, offices, and busy homes. It provides a natural matte sheen that enhances the wood grain while protecting it for long-term use. Cleaning is simple: wipe with a mild soap-and-water solution or a gentle all-purpose cleaner. While the finish can handle regular commercial cleaning products, we recommend avoiding extremely harsh or abrasive chemicals to preserve the natural look of the wood. If you prefer a wood-safe solution, we offer an approved cleaner here: Hardwood Surface Cleaner. View available finish options on our Color Swatches page.

How long does a made-to-order piece take?

Each tabletop is handcrafted to order, with typical production times of 3–4 weeks, depending on size, species, and finish. If you have a project deadline or need expedited scheduling, please reach out through our Contact page.

How is it shipped and delivered?

We ship tabletops nationwide. Smaller pieces ship parcel, while larger dining or conference tops ship via freight. Every tabletop is professionally packaged and secured for safe transport. You’ll receive tracking details once your order has shipped.

What is C-channel reinforcement and do I need it?

For wider or longer tabletops, optional steel C-channel reinforcement can be added to the underside for increased stability and long-term flatness. This upgrade is recommended for commercial installations or extra-large builds. Learn more about how C-channels work on our C-Channel Reinforcement page.
