Macassar Ebony Cabinet Doors
Made-to-order Macassar Ebony cabinet doors and drawer fronts, cut to your list in our Farmingdale, New York shop: a slab is one solid panel, a shaker is routed from one panel with no joint to open, and the fluted, reeded, scalloped and hammered faces are cut into the solid wood.
Every piece is solid Macassar Ebony straight through, never veneer over a substrate. At 3,220 lbf on the Janka scale it offers the black end of the spectrum — dramatic striping, sealed in a 100% VOC-free, food-safe finish that stands up to daily kitchen and commercial use and can be sanded back and refinished for years.
Build the door list above for a live price on every front, or send us your plans and we build the list for you at the same prices. Every front in an order is cut from one bundle of boards, in hanging order.
Details, Hinges & Shipping
Where can I use solid hardwood cabinet doors?
Kitchens, islands and pantries first, then bathroom vanities, laundry rooms, mudroom lockers, home bars, entry built-ins and wall cabinets in a living room or office. Any frameless or face-frame cabinet that takes an overlay door takes one of ours, and the drawer fronts are cut from the same bundle as the doors so a whole wall reads as one piece.
Will the doors fit my IKEA SEKTION cabinets?
Yes. The Builder carries the SEKTION door and drawer-front sizes as presets, every front is still cut to the number you type, and choosing IKEA Utrusta under hinge boring puts the 35 mm cups at that spacing so the door hangs on the frame you already own. Measure an existing front to confirm before you order, and send us the Kitchen Planner list if you would rather we build the door list for you.
How thick are the doors, and which thickness should I choose?
We make 3/4 in, 7/8 in and 1 in doors. The 3/4 in door is the standard and right for drawer fronts and doors under 10 in wide; over 10 in across the grain we recommend 7/8 in, which is where other makers cap the width instead of going thicker. The Builder suggests the thickness as you enter each size, and you can override it per order.
What is matched grain, and what is continuous grain?
Matched grain is standard: every front in your order is cut from one bundle of boards, in hanging order, so the color and figure are consistent across the kitchen, and we match a countertop or shelves you already bought from us. Continuous grain is a choice for a run, a drawer stack or a bank of doors, cut in sequence from one board so the figure continues across the reveals; it carries a surcharge per front in the run.
How do I clean and maintain the finish?
Finished doors carry the same 100% VOC-free hardwax oil as our countertops, in a satin that resists fingerprints, steam and everyday cleaning. Wipe with mild soap and water or a gentle all-purpose cleaner and avoid abrasives; a worn spot near a pull can be refreshed with a coat of the same oil without stripping the door. Unfinished doors are sanded and raw for your own finisher.
How long does a door order take?
Doors run on the same bench as everything else, so the posted lead time applies: currently 4-6 weeks. The Builder shows your ship window before you add the list to your project, and a plans order that needs a drawing read first may run to the long end of it.
How are cabinet doors shipped?
By UPS, each front wrapped and corner-protected and the order boxed by run so a drawer stack arrives together; tall pantry doors and large kitchens go crated by freight with lift-gate delivery like our countertops. Shipping is quoted at checkout from the list you build, and the spec sheet travels with the order so your installer knows which door hangs where.
Can I send plans instead of using the Builder?
Yes. Pick a wood and a style, upload a drawing, a cabinet schedule or your IKEA Kitchen Planner list with any notes on hinge sides and reveals, and we build the door list for you in hanging order and send it back as a quote within one business day, priced exactly as the Builder prices it. You approve and pay the quote like any invoice.
