Made-to-order solid wood surfaces built in New York.
Precision-engineered solid wood surfaces for residential and commercial environments.
Hardtwood operates a dedicated manufacturing facility in New York,
producing made-to-order wood countertops, tabletops, and shelving using CNC-controlled machining, tight dimensional tolerances, and 100% VOC-free industrial finishes.
Our Pillars
What Makes Hardtwood Different
Solid Hardwoods
Hardtwood does not manufacture mass-market furniture. We do not use veneers, MDF, particle board, or composite materials. Every component leaving our facility is constructed from 100% solid hardwood.
By building exclusively to order, we ensure that every piece is milled from the same lumber lot, providing color consistency and structural harmony.
Craft With Intent
Every piece is built by experienced craftsmen. Surfaces are milled, joined, sanded, and finished in-house, with each stage inspected before moving forward. We prioritize structural integrity, clean joinery, and consistent tolerances over speed or volume.
Nothing leaves the shop without passing a final inspection for fit, finish, and dimensional accuracy.
In-House Control
Our facility integrates industrial CNC precision with traditional joinery. We control the moisture content of our lumber, the precision of our glue-ups, and the application of our 100% VOC-free finishes.
This vertical integration allows for direct quality control at every stage of production.
Builds at Any Scale
Our shop is set up to produce both one-off custom pieces and repeatable multi-unit runs without changing materials or standards. Whether a single residential tabletop or a full commercial order, each piece is milled, assembled, and finished using the same process and quality controls.
Multi-unit runs are sequenced and matched to maintain color, grain, and finish consistency across all pieces.

Materials & Sourcing
The structural integrity of custom solid wood furniture begins with the raw material. Hardtwood utilizes premium-grade North American hardwoods, including Black Walnut, White Oak, Red Oak, Hard Maple, Cherry, Ash, and Knotty Alder.
Sustainability is maintained through a commitment to verifiable sourcing. We prioritize lumber from mills that practice sustainable forest management. Our finishing process is strictly 100% VOC-free, ensuring that our products do not contribute to off-gassing in residential or commercial interiors. We do not use chemical stains to mimic premium wood species; we rely on the natural grain characteristics and high-solids finishes to achieve a permanent, maintainable aesthetic.
Craftsmanship Without Romance
We define craftsmanship as the intersection of technical proficiency and industrial capability. Hardtwood utilizes 3-axis CNC machining to ensure geometric perfection, alongside traditional industrial planers, jointers, and wide-belt sanders. Our value lies in our ability to repeat precise results across large-scale commercial orders while maintaining the grain-matching and finish consistency standards required for custom architectural woodworking.
